Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What do I do if I cannot get online?
A: Contact the ITS Help Desk at 323.343.6170.
Q: Can I buy an earlier version of Cohen’s text?
A: Yes.
Q: Is the Course Reader Robert Cohen’s Theatre 10th ed. (2014)?
A: Yes. Cohen's Theatre is the main text in the Course Reader.
Q: The Campus Bookstore has sold out of the Course Reader, what do I do in the meantime?
A: You can either cancel that print order from the bookstore and purchase the eBook from the Moodle link, or go to Amazon Kindle and download the free chapters from the books for the first week.
Q: What are the titles and ISBN of the books?
A: Look online.
Q: Can I have more time for assignments?
A: No. There are no late assignments or redo quizzes - unless negotiated with the Professor.
Q. What if I have a problem finishing the weekly quiz or uploading documents on Moodle.
A: Contact ITS. Best to get all your course work submitted by email and any written work in class on Thursday each week. If you find you encounter problems, you will have time to contact ITS and troubleshoot what is preventing you to engage the server and/or the technological interface. By organizing your time efficiently, you avoid crisis, stress, and failed completion of submissions.
Q: Are the writing protocols required?
A: Yes.
Q: Are the writing protocols for analyzing play scripts different than analyzing and critiquing a play performance?
A: Yes. Play scripts are dramatic literature, while play performances are live and unique events in real time, space, and location. The reading and analysis of a play script engages the imagination and intellect, while the on-site experience of witnessing a play in live performance engages the entire being--the cognitive and physical senses. A MetaCritique joins both the literary and the dramatic together in one analysis.
Q: The grading is point driven. Can I miss an assignment and still get an ‘A’?
A: Yes, but you have to watch your points each week and then assess if doing extra credit at the end of the course will be necessary and/or beneficial. Best to stay on point throughout the course.
Q: If I have a question, concern, confusion, or crisis, how can I contact Professor Larkin?
