Performance Monologues

This is an assignment that requests of you to develop ten paragraphs (15 to 20 sentences each) first-person performative monologue that 1.) Describes who you are from your own perspective (2 paragraphs), and 2.) Articulates in detail some acquired knowledge you possess on one subject (2 paragraphs), 3.) Explicates an activist concern in the world (2 paragraphs), and 4.) Theatricalizes through Anecdotes your experience or the experiences of others in relation to the subject (2 paragraphs). 5.) Frame the piece with an Introduction (1 paragraph) and Conclusion (1 paragraph).
 
This performance is based on your subjective experience and is considered 'an intimate perspective’ revealing particulars about a very interesting person: YOU. And about an activist subject that is of great concern in the world. There are so many!
 
Keep it in the first and third person and creatively express to our class who you have authentically become in your life in this space and time through direct experience, personal self-awareness, research, and penetrating self-analysis. Allow some time for both reflection and research for this assignment.
 
It is not intended to be a facile quick response but rather an opportunity for you to consider in depth what and who you are in this time of your life, what you stand for, and what you believe in the world to be valuable. 
 
Shape the monologue with an introduction; reveal at least two separate illustrated examples that illuminate and deepen what you say about yourself. Link your narrative to an experience that has transformed you in some way, which may serve as a bridge leading you into the second paragraph about ‘what you know’.
 
The next sequence of paragraphs are intended to express a full and succinct explication (explanation, interpretation and analysis) of something you know well. Select an experience appropriate to our classroom setting. Infuse the paragraphs with a poetic voice.
